Weathering the Change - Draft Action Plan 2
The ACT Government has released Weathering the Change Draft Action Plan 2 for public comment. The purpose of Draft Action Plan 2 is to consult on strategies and actions that will place the ACT on a pathway towards zero net emissions and increase our ability to adapt to a changing climate.
The ACT Government has set the most ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets of any jurisdiction in Australia. Legislation has committed ACT targets of zero net emissions by 2060 and a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from 1990 levels by 2020. A zero net emissions Canberra in 2060 will look, feel and be very different to the city we live in today. For Canberra, this transition provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate and showcase the feasibility and benefits of being responsive to climate change.
Your feedback will help the ACT Government finalise the policy and implement its actions, to keep Canberra an attractive, liveable and sustainable place to live, work and play.
The consultation is open from Monday 5 December 2011 to Friday 2 March 2012.
